Ive been using MainConcept MPEG Encoder for a while allows batch conversion etc does a good job, however does seem to produce slighty oversized files it will not convert three tv episodes and then all thress comfortably fit on a disc. Use WinAVI for that quality seems to be a little less but you'd never know as most of the TV sources I use aren't the best to start with.
