I said the same thing Sick... but the powers that be think it needs constant moderation. I think the issue of constant moderation could be solved by allowing VIP members to have moderating powers over the chatroom... I mean if they got VIP status, that should say something about them right? And is there ever a time when a VIP or a MOD isn't on? But that leaves the issue of people joining up and just chatting - not actually being a member of the community, but I think this could easily be solved by a limitation on who can chat or not - like the way you have to post 3 times before you can download something. Maybe make it based on rank, like you have to be a non-private to use it.... these are just my ideas of course - and do not reflect the thinking of the staff.

But no use whining about it... right now we just have to settle with the shoutbox. You can easily turn it into a bit of a chatroom (if you don't mind your conversation being there for everyone to read) by just pm-ing the person you want to chat with and have them meet you at the shoutbox. I mean sure there's a little delay, but it's better than nothing. You can always see who's online on the homepage or even on your buddylist.


I'll prolly get beat up for saying this - but I still think a chat room would be a GREAT addition to uSeek.
