Default torrent client

I used to use Az but, as someone said, the load was too high.
So I now use uTorrent and have no problems at all - like folks say, it gets on with the job, quietly and is very controllable. You can use task manager to see where the load is going - not surewhat the equivelent is for mac. If you look at processes you will see that Firefox or even wmedia player uses more than uTorrent.

One thing you can't do with uTorrent is to restrict certain individual peers from hogging the bandwidth. Everything is possible with the torrents themselves like restricting u/l or d/l but not with individuals you are uploading to. Have you noticed how you try to download a torrent and all leechers progress at the same rate? - that is why - you can control it to the extent that everyone must end up with an expected individual torrent ratio.

Having said all that, the one peice of good advice I got when starting out was to make sure I restricted both u/l and d/l maximum to about 80% of what my pipe was capable of. This allows it all to 'breath'. The help FAQ for uTorrent is worth following imop, for setting up - then experiment a bit to see what works for you.

Sorry if I am preaching to the converted here, it's just what I know works for me. :-)

Indeed.. as do we all. I use Azueus, and i have np with the load. U just adjust the system priorities.. and ur done. I can't keep up and down torrents apart in Utorrent.. I like the separate windows in Azueus.. makes u have a good overview on whats up and downloading.. also.. adjustable up/downloads speeds per torrent, and sometimes 800kb/sec on good torrents, keep me with Azueus..

System priority's only affect the way Azureaus holds up against other programs on the Computer, not the speed itself. Most of the speed is determent by your bandwidth, and proper settings of the bittorrent client..
