I do understand it all.. and its a long ass list of bugs they cleared...

Okay.. suppose one wants to switch from Azureus to Utorrent.. is there an easy way ?.. i mean.. i have like 30 torrents up and downloading atm.. how do i move them to Utorrent ?... does it have a migration option, or is there a third party option ?.. i mean.. i will not be the first with that question.. would i ?..

I am pretty advanced in Azureus.. i still like the speed (800 kb/ps down) and the separate up and download windows.. it keeps things nicely apart... but my main concern is the load it generates.. Azureus can eat 80% of your resources.. so you will have no bandwidth left to use Firefox.. and that bugs the shite out of me.. i suppose that will be gone when using U torrent ?..

Well, I guess that depends on your definition of "easy". Here's a copy of the uTorrent Migration Guide - I figure it's better to let you just read and decide for yourself.

I've never used Azureus, or any other torrent client for that matter, so I can't really give much of a comparison. I like uTorrent. It runs nice and quiet in the background. It's supposed to use less resources than other clients, but no way for me to verify that. I know that I have to limit my upload speeds when I want to browse the web, but I'm pretty sure that's just cause of my connection. It's very easy to change ur upload/download limits. I also really like the scheduler.

I know stolen also uses uTorrent, and I think Basher, so you might want to get their opinions. They will probably be able to give you the more "techie" info you're curious about.

Hi Relic.....

Angi is correct, I do use uTorrent, but I haven't used Azureus. In terms of system info. I find uTorrent seems the best for simply sitting in the background and running whilst you still use your machine. It's CPU and memory usage is low.

In terms of uTorrent functionality, one of the main reasons I have stuck with uTorrent is the ability to limit and control bandwidth allocation at different levels, i.e. the whole uTorrent application or individual torrents or groups of torrents, etc....

uTorrent has what Angi mentioned a scheduler, this allows you to restrict the utorrent client to maximum u/l and d/l speeds for given periods of time. For example between 10AM and 9PM I am able to limit the u/l bandwidth to say 35 kB/s, this then ensures that I have enough remaining bandwidth for the other PC's on my network to still quickly move around the web.

It also then has the ability to restrict bandwidth allocation at torrent level, setting max/min u/l and d/l settings for individual torrent or groups of torrents. It also has a bandwidth priority high/normal/low which I tend to use when seeding a new torrent and I am the only seed. This allows me to still seed torrent which have been in my client a while, but setting High against the bandwidth allocation for the new torrent ensures that utorrent gives all the remaining bandwidth to the new torrent.

I find utorrent the best when it comes to managing the bandwidth allocation and up and down speeds.

The other element I like is the ability to LABEL torrents in your client, for example MUSIC, MOVIES, APPS, etc.... uTorrent then lists your different labels within the client, then if you select one it filters your view.

I used BITLORD before uTorrent and now experience far high d/l speeds using uTorrent. One of the reason I change was the ability with uTorrent to enable encryption to encrypt the torrent piece. This can sometimes help in hiding the data type, thus stopping ISP limiting d/l speeds for torrent pieces. Not sure the true effecftiveness of this, but it seems to work.

Any other ?'s just ask.

Cheers.

Basher....
