Wink Take a free ripper and converter on a USB drive

There is a great audio software I want to share with all the useek members. It is very easy to use (even to newbies) and a great audio ripper and converter that you can take with you on your USB drive. And the best: it's completely free and supports a wide range of file formats.

1. Download the PowerEnc 2.3

First go to the Benware.org site and download the PowerEnc 2.3 from:

http://www.benware.de/index.php?lang...grams#PowerEnc

or direct download from http://www.benware.de/download/power...ld20061018.zip.

The software is a auto executable zip file, which means that if you don't want it anymore you can get rid of it only by deleting the installation folder. No dlls or register entries! So choose a folder to unpack it. It can be any on your HD or on a USB drive.

Download and unpack the MP3 and AAC encoders

The software is compatible with mp3, aac, ogg, wave, nero aac and musepack audio files.

But for the mp3 and the aac files, you must download the encoders separately. This is an usual action on this kind of software, because the developers are not allowed to include them on the release, but you are allowed to download them and use them with your software. Go to the http://www.rarewares.org and download them.

or direct links here...
Lame 3.98 alpha 11: http://www.rarewares.org/dancer/dancer.php?f=128
Faac 1.24.1: http://pessoal.onda.com.br/rjamorim/faac.zip

Once you download both zip files, make sure you unpack the files to the Encoder folder that can be found on the installation folder of PowerEnc. You only need to unpack the lame.exe and the faac.exe files to the Encoder folder.

Add a FLAC profile

Now, what about adding a lossless codec to the PowerEnc, like the FLAC codec. This is completely possible with the PowerEnc.

Once again, go to the rarewares.org and download the FLAC v.1.1.4 bundle and the Intel 9.1 libmmd.dll

Direct links here:

FLAC v.1.1.4 bundle: http://www.rarewares.org/files/lossless/flac-1.1.4.zip
Intel 9.1 libmmd.dll: http://www.rarewares.org/files/libmmd9.1.zip

Do the same process another time. Unpack only the flac.exe and the libmmd.dll to the Encoder folder. Now that we have installed the FLAC codec, let's create the FLAC profile.
  1. Open the PowerEnc and click on Encoder>settings
  2. On the "Choose an enconder" box, choose user defined
  3. Click on the "new" button and name it as FLAC.
  4. On the "path" tab, point to the flac.exe file you have just unpacked.
  5. On the Enconder parameters copy the following code below to the box:
    Code:
    -8 -V - -o %f
  6. On the file extension box, type flac .
  7. Save the profile

At the end of the process your configuration window should look like this:

If you followed all the instructions as well, you will be able to rip and convert flac files as like any other.

I hope this guide may be useful to anyone.

Bye.
