Stuck @ 98% downloading(or similar)

here is the main reason you get stuck at 98% these days: sometimes ppl upload torrents that are bogus. they purposefully make sure the whole file is not there just to make ppl mad. or they put spam files in there etc. Or the tracker is reporting false information to mislead you (like saying theres seeds when there really arent). this didnt use to happen just a year or so ago. its a new and all too common thing these days so keep your eyes peeled! most often these fakes are uploaded as "free advertising" for an upcoming movie that is not yet out in the theaters. so if you are the type that absolutely "must" have the movie even b4 it comes out, then please look extremeley carefully at the stats page to make sure its not a fake! and if the movie says its a "dvdrip" or anything dvd then its a fake: if the movie hasnt even come out in theaters yet, then its most certainly not available on dvd yet! so use some common sense on those fakes...

there are other ways to look out for these types too. you HAVE to get used to reading all the info on the torrent stat page. thats VERY important and for some reason many ppl ignore the stats page! this type of bogus torrent often claims really high downloads completed, like 20,000. but if you look at the date it was uploaded it may have only been there for a few days or couple weeks and it just couldnt have had that many completed downloads in that short time! also its ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA NO MATTER WHAT to look at the actual files that the torrent is claiming to have B4 you download it! if it says its a torrent for spiderman 2 and the files say its an ozzy ozbourne album then its a fake torrent! or if the files look correct but say 0kb in size then its a fake torrent! if you forget to check the stats page then al least open the folder that your client made for the torrent and see what files are in there! i see lots of ppl all the time that get very angry after downloading 3GB, taking a couple weeks to do so, and then find out its stuck at 98% and the files are all wrong. so thats the fault of the uploader right? well, only PARTLY! i feel bad when that happens but its also up to US to watch what we are doing and not let this happen! if we pay attention then this really doesnt need to EVER happen to us!
also these torrents often claim to have HUNDREDS (or even more) OF SEEDS. sounds great right? well sometimes things are TOO GOOD to be true as they say. especially if this is NOT a very popular torrent then there's no way its going to have hundreds of seeds. and heres the clincher: when you open it in your client, it will still say there are hundreds of seeds available but NOT A SINGLE ONE will connect! thus you will only be getting the files from other leechers who in turn also DO NOT have the complete files! then you get stuck at 98% or so. Sad also these fakes often claim to have had hundreds of THOUSANDS of "completed downloads" (lately i have even seen ones claiming MILLIONS!!!). that also sounds good right? nope. check the date the torrent was added to our site. they were usually added only a week ago or some other short period of time. so how can you get that many completed downloads in only 1 week, or even 1 day? you cant! its a bogus torrent!

if you find you have one of these bogus torrents then please, please report them as "bad torrents" from the link on the stats page and we will delete them!

A good tips for this is also, simply see if there are seeders! If there are only many peers and no seeders, then you will get stuck before reaching 100%

So always check that after a few min when starting a new download

i got a number of bad torrents, even on piratebay.
now it all makes sense.

any solution if you're stuck at 98% though?
i sometimes see one 100% seed, but cant get any data.
