I'm curious, many of you have stated the USA will fall. I disagree but I would like to hear your opinion and why?

I think the USA will decline as world leader, this will happen over the next 20 yrs. I love the US as a country and have no real problems with them, I am not one to jump on the "anti-american bandwagan", I can make my own judgement.

They will not fall as they have a very strong infrastructure, they will just get overtaken.

China will emerge as the world leader. We also have to consider other emerging ecomomies like Latin America & even Africa (but that may be some time away)

nah...

though if you study history, empires and nations inevitably will come to prominence and decline as newer powers take over.

if the 1940 (after WW2)- 1980s, the world currency was the sterling pound and the UK was dominant.

during the mid 80s, in the era of reaganomics, the US came to power and dominated the world stage. Russia was the other major power, due mainly to the arms race.

however, Russia though still very influential, is fading to a tier-2 superpower, especially after the breakaway of the republics.

Japan though the world's second largest economy after the USA is still going to be in the doldrums for the next 10 years, even though stuff like DVD recorders, plasma TVs, the portable CD player, the playstations and nintendo originated there.

I belive the next generation of super powers are likely to come from either the EU or China or India.

who'll be the next major power is anyone's guess...

I don't think the usa will fall, kinda getting pushed into the ground by our current president. When we get a new president I think things will get better. President Bush just doesn't appear to know what he's doing, at least imo.

Not only USA, but the whole world is in grave danger. Forget the economy, forget the military powers. The enemy is already within our ranks

Hard to say because there are a million things that can happen,
it's not very easy to answer, actually it is impossible to answer.
About the economoy; there has been some sort of economy since the humans socialized, so it's hard to dissmiss an economy :P

Yes of course in the future it will. But the hope is they all fall and then the human race might start realising that it is just a single race on a single planet, with a need for a single purpose.

All our politions seem to be about Ego not people, but George Bush Jnr.. how did the american public vote for someone who can't even speak in public. I think his term hasn't helped the countrys position in the world.

It sure will someday. In history, every empire have fallen. The difficult thing is guessing when it is going to be. Instead of that, i may try to guess who will be the next leader: China.

Don't beat around the bush, say what you feel!!!

Well I've read all the posts and I have just a few things I'd like to add to the mix. First off, "W" didn't get elected... his family bought the election. I mean c'mon his Bro Jed(cousin maybe?) is Govenor of Florida, and that's the state where all those Gore votes just *poof* disappeared! He is a disgrace and an embarassment to the US (just like Jerry Springer).

I don't think the US will fall, but I think overtime we will turn our attentions to our own country to fix our problems (economy, healthcare, etc). After that I think America will rise to even greater heights and will be finally able to really help the rest of the world.

Personally... I would like to see Canada become a world power. I think they have figured out a lot of ways to solve their citizens problems, and i think the other countries of the world could learn a lesson or two from them (especially the US). Just my opinion. You don't have to agree.
