Question Read This Before Voting!!!!

A police officer in Texas (I don't remember if it was a state trooper or a highway sheriff or whatever) pulls over a van because when he called in the license plate it came back as stolen. After approaching the van and speaking with the driver, the officer learns the van is full of illegal Mexicans. The driver of the van, knowing the would be deported back to Mexico, decides to make a run for it and takes off. The officer gets in his car, pursues and manages to get in front of the van. He speeds up and gets a ways in front of the van, he then turns his car and stops it blocking the road. For whatever reason the officer gets out of his car, stands between it and the van. The van continues driving towards him. He pulls out his gun, the van doesn't slow down. The officer fires a warning shot into the air, still the van doesn't slow down. Finally the officer shoots at the van, trying to blow a wheel. The van stops. The government now wants to put this officer in federal prison for up to 7 years because when he fired at the van, a fragment of the bullet richoted and hit one of the passengers - a woman. You hear this and you think, ok he killed her right? WRONG! The bullet fragment chips 2 of the woman's teeth and cuts her lip. Her laywer is claiming the officer violated her civil rights. This woman is not a citizen of the US, she entered the country illegally. This made her a criminal (as well as all of the others in the van), in my opinion the officer was not doing anything more than his job. Had this been a van full of bank robbers, or violent criminals would the government still want to put him in prison? What is your opinion on this?

Honestly, I can't remember where I found the site (Yes, I know my memory is $h!t). I will try to find it again in the next couple of days. I want to say I found it on outdoors.net, but I could be wrong.

Yet another abuse of the civil rights law it like the guy how breaks the law then gets sent to jail complaines that because he has to slop out(Scotland) is an infrigment of his civil rights and sues the goverment and gets a nice big fat wad of cash for it now if I had been the judge I would have agreed yes it bad so we will give the prisons a slap on the wrist for this and give your Compensation to your victim as if it wasn't for you robbing or what ever it was he did to them you wouldn't be here today so no money for you scum boy.

He actually went to jail. A few politicians tried to talk GW into pardoning him, but he said no. So now a Senator/Congressman (Schuber I think) is trying to get a bill passed saying that the government refuses to pay to keep the officer in jail... if it passes he'll be released, no guarantee he'll get his job back or what not because he'd still be considered an ex-felon.... but I hope it does get passed. It's a darn shame what he's been through.

I'm trying to get the link so I can post it here and share all of the specifics...
