Bit Torrent File Sharing / Download Technology

Bit torrent file sharing technology is a file sharing protocol that was invented by computer genius Bram Cohen. Bit Torrent file sharing technology is a way that users can distribute large amounts of information without having to deal with costly bandwidth and servers. It has been widely thought that this sort of technology is responsible for up to 35% of all of the traffic that is on the internet today. Some sources suggest that this number may be a bit high, but overall it is widely known that this technology is used by the masses.

Most people have heard of Bit Torrent file sharing technology, but they really have no clue on how it works. If you are not a professional in this industry you may have a hard time understanding the complex details of this technology, but that does not mean that you cannot at least learn about the basic outline.

The way that Bit Torrent file sharing technology works is by breaking down larger files into smaller fragments. In most cases the smaller fragments consist of a quarter of a mebibyte; but it should be remembered that the larger the file size, the larger the fragments will be in the end. These smaller fragments are then downloaded by people from each other, and on the other side the same people upload fragments to people that request them.

One of the main advantages of Bit Torrent file sharing technology is that it is a very smart program that assists users to make their life much easier. The protocol of this system is so smart that it can choose the person with the best network connections so that transfers are done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Another area where Bit Torrent file sharing technology excels is its efficiency. To make the system the most effective and efficient, Bit Torrent users request from their peers the fragments that are the most difficult to find. The reason for doing this is to ensure that the files can be found on more than one machine, instead of simply a few. This goes a long way in keeping everybody happy, and the system operating smoothly.

Also, many people love the fact that they do not have to download the complete file from another user. In other words, you can get the different fragments from different peers to complete the puzzle. As long as the fragments are available you will be able to get the completed product.

Taking advantage of Bit Torrent file sharing technology is pretty easy to understand. This goes a long way in making the program easily accessible to a large number of people. When you download Bit Torrent you will start with a .torrent file. This is nothing more than a common pointer file in which a filename as well as the size is included. After downloading the torrent, you will then be able to open it up in the Bit Torrent software.

When you have the torrent file downloaded, and are in the software, you will be ready to get started. Your torrent file will tell each client the address of the tracker, which will maintain a comprehensive log on which users are downloading the file, as well as where the fragments are located that you will be searching for. After finding which source is available, the client will then find out which fragments of the file are available. After the client receives the fragment, it is checked to make sure that it matches would the torrent file requested.

Most people that use Bit Torrent file sharing technology have found that it works best when using a broadband connection. Even though it is possible to use this technology with a dial up connection, it is not suggested because of the disconnections that constantly occur.

At the present time there are many people that are authorized to use the Bit Torrent file sharing technology system to distribute their own material (you can find the torents on Bit Torrent Sites. These companies include those in the software, music, movie, and games industries.

Bit Torrent file sharing technology is still in the development process so it is safe to say that there are going to be some changes that occur over the next couple of years. If these changes can improve an already top notch system, there is no reason that Bit Torrent file sharing technology will not become even more popular.

Bit Torrent file sharing technology has changed the industry forever; and most people would agree that the changes are for the better.
