Default iPod Classic 160GB

I'm using Windows Vista on a relatively new laptop. I've already fried 1 iPod, and am starting to have trouble with the new replacement. All of the sudden, the iPod isn't detected anymore. I hear there may be a bug in Vista that was allegedy fixed by a patch (I've updated Vista with that patch already). I'm getting a little pissed that something so expensive just decides to die on me. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks for any help.

You plugged your iPod into your computer and it just 'fried'? That really sucks, can I recommend not using Vista? If you must, downgrade to XP. Theres a service pack out for Vista too, check that out.
